Upton Surgery are seeking to employ a skilled Phlebotomist or a Nurse Associateto join our dynamic team.
This post is a Part-Time position working 24hrs a week. You will provide and maintain a high standard of care for patients and provide assistance to the Nursing team and Doctors.
Nurse Associate - The duties will include the normal duties undertaken by a Nursing Associate including phlebotomy. Extra training and support will be given to enhance and develop the skills needed for this role whilst in post.
Main duties of the job
They will work with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
- Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training
- Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
- Checking patient identification against request, confirming with the patient
- Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with
- practice procedures
- Ensuring samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories
- Ordering equipment/stock and maintaining supplies
- Liaising with and assisting members of the reception team
- Liaising with a assisting members of the nursing team
- Working within practice infection control processes/procedures

Upton Surgery is a friendly, forward thinking General Practice with on site NHS Community staff and Social Care staff. We have a holistic, integrated care approach for our 12,500 patients. We are a training practice with 6 GP partners, 4 salaried doctors, 3 ANPs and 1 clinical Pharmacist, 2 Pharmacy Technicians and a Dispensary on site. Located just 10 minutes from junction 1 of the M50, 15 minutes from Worcester and Malvern. 10 minutes from Tewkesbury and 30 minutes from Cheltenham.

- Experience of working with EMIS clinical system although full training will be provided to the right candidate.
