Job summary
Due to a move to partnership we are looking to appoint a 4 session GP - would
you like the opportunity to join our wonderful team, work in a beautiful
building set in lovely gardens in Cotham, Bristol with a great team & on
site parking?
You will have 25 contacts/day with 15 min
appointments & be part of a
large GP team (with a low visit rate) with many ARRS roles to support you. Two GPs are assigned to duty each
day & there is also a workflow team to reduce your unnecessary workload. As an established training practice you can also be involved in teaching medical students & the next
generation of GPs. Continuous shared
learning is offered in the form of Education meetings & all
our GPs are assigned a Partner mentor.
The team meets at lunch time everyday for a chance to relax, discuss
cases, concerns & share learning.
There is a practice & PCN social running group & a Wellbeing
group to support the whole team. The
practice is part of Healthwest PCN (over 70,000 patients) which is a highly
collaborative group & regularly hosts events for the teams.

Main duties of the job
To provide general practice consultations to patients and, where appropriate, physical examinations for the purposes of identifying or reducing the risk of disease or injury.
To undertake a variety of duties including consultations and queries, share in home visits, checking and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Providing support in achieving QOF targets
Referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Collecting data for audit purposes
Checking, compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
The successful candidate will join a team of 5 partners and 7 associate GPs. There is an experienced treatment room team and admin support function.
Participation in learning is encouraged and weekly meetings ensure communication is a constant process. GPs also meet daily at lunch time to chat and to discuss issues arising from the morning.
The practice is set in a stunning listed building and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. There is also a large car park behind the building.

- To undertake surgeries in line with the current appointment system.
- To be involved in rotas for Saturday mornings and late evening opening in conjunction with Extended Hours & Improved Access.
- To travel within the practice area to provide home visits and emergency treatment to patients.
- To undertake duty surgeries on a pro rata basis in line with the number of sessions undertaken. (Full time partner = 9 sessions)
- To review and sign all prescriptions for patients seen by you as their usual doctor.
- To review all hospital correspondence for patients see by you as their usual doctor and take appropriate action as necessary.
- To review of pathology; X ray; cytology; ultrasound results etc for those patients seen by you as their usual doctor.
- To make NHS or private referrals as appropriate for patients seen during surgery.
- To initiate investigations as required for those patients seen in surgery.
- To maintain adequate records for the use of controlled drugs.
- To ensure any personal drugs bag is up to date.
- To maintain normal NHS standards of confidentiality.
- To participate in CCG work stream
- To complete any insurance form, Government form or private form for patients seen by you as their usual doctor.
- To update the medical records to ensure maximum Quality Framework Points
- To assume responsibility (or assist colleagues) for a clinical domain with thin the Quality Framework as decided by the other partners
- To be involved in Quality & productivity work & enhanced services where necessary.
