Job summary
We are a busy GP practice in the S11 area of Sheffield with approximately 4800 patients. We are looking for an experienced practice nurse to join our friendly team.
The ideal candidate will be NMC registered with experience of working in general practice in a practice nurse role.
Hours to be discussed, approximately 28 hours but some flexibility possible for the right candidate.
5 weeks annual leave pro rata (increasing 1 day each year of service up to 6 weeks) plus pro rata bank holiday entitlement.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will include:
Cervical Screening
Long term condition management e.g. Diabetes, Asthma, COPD
Routine immunisations and childhood immunisations
Travel clinic
Ear syringing
Wound management
Contraception reviews
Hormone Injections
Venepuncture
Pathology requesting

We are a small, friendly practice consisting of 3 GP's, ANP, Paramedic, HCA, Pharmacist and supportive management and administrative team. We have consistently good feedback and rated Good by CQC.

Job Summary:
The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cytology
- Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler
- Removal of Sutures
- Life style advise including, diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol.
- Travel Clinic
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
- Venepuncture
- Hypertension Management
- NHS Health Checks
- Ear syringing
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Womens health, contraception, post natal checks.
- Chronic Disease management. Including Asthma, CHD, COPD, Diabetes, DMARDS, Zoladex, Prostap, Degarelix
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Other tasks will include:
- Infection control.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses.
- Maintaining Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
- Ordering of stock from the Hospital / Supplier
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
- A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
