Job summary

Portishead Medcial Group is looking for two Practice Nurses to join our friendly clinical team providing high quality patient care and contributing to the development of services within our well establsihed and thriving practice.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will work 24 or 28 hours per week, across 4 days and provide a variety of clinics. These may include:

  • Chronic disease management
  • Cervical screening
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Wound care and dressings
  • Travel Health
  • LARC

Job description

Job responsibilities

To initiate and maintain Disease Management and Health Promotion. To provide general and specific health screening to the practice population (within agreed protocols) with referral to the General Practitioners as necessary. This will be within the professional competence of the post holder. Extra training will be provided before new duties are undertaken.

Working within the nursing and other clincial teams, provide a variety of clinics, always working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for supervising Health Care Assistants and student nurses
  • Completing and updating templates to record information for Quality and Outcome Framework audits
  • Health promotion and lifestyle advice
  • Ensure all practice is evidence based and protocol lead
  • Liaise with administrative staff regarding the organisation of clinics
  • Flexibility to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
