Job summary

Barlborough Medical Practice are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and caring HCA to join our team. You will be working alongside our clinical team providing high quality care and services to our patients.

You may also be required to work at our branch site in Renishaw.

Main duties of the job

* Blood taking

* Blood pressure checks

* Height, weight, BMI

* ECGs

* Spirometry (preferred but not essential)

* B12 injections

* Flu immunisations.

* Diabetic checks including foot check

* INR check using point of care INR machine (training can be given) - home visits for INR also.

* BLS training.

* assist Clinicians where needed.

* Proactively assist with QOF achievements.

* Assist with stock checks, equipment check and ordering

Barlborough Medical Practice is a friendly forward thinking GP practice in Barlborough, North East Derbyshire, and a member of the NHS Derby and Derbyshire ICB.

The Practice is a semi rural dispensing practice run from 2 sites, a main surgery at Barlborough, and a branch at Renishaw.

Job responsibilities

Blood taking

Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating

Maintain effective communication within the practice teams and with other health and social care agencies including the voluntary sector.

Recognise and work within own competence and liaise with the medical teams

Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality of care.

Team working

Understand own role and scope and identify how this may develop over time.

Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working.

Discuss, highlight, and work with the 5 practice teams to create opportunities to improve patient care.

Management of risk

  • Manage and assess risk within the areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients

Apply infection-control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines

Managing information

Use technology and appropriate software as an aid to management in planning, implementation and monitoring of care, presenting and communicating information
