Job summary
The Grove Medical Group is a forward-thinking GP practice
operating in Gosforth Newcastle. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate
Practice Nurse to support the delivery of high-quality care to our patients as
part of our established multidisciplinary team.
The Practice Nurse will play a key role in delivering
high-quality, patient-centred care through a variety of nursing services
including chronic disease management, immunisations, including travel
vaccinations, cervical screening, wound care, and health promotion. The
successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously within their
professional scope of Practice, as well as collaboratively with the wider
clinical team to meet the needs of our patient population.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse will support the delivery of high-quality nursing care and contribute to the smooth operation of clinical services. Key responsibilities include:

- Registered Nurse -current registration NMC with no restrictions
- Degree in Adult Nursing
Desirable
- Mentor or teaching qualification
- Post graduate diploma or degree -Chronic Disease Management
- Nurse prescriber / Independent prescriber
- Family planning qualification
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a primary care environment as a practice nurse
- Experience of chronic disease management
- Experience of working autonomously
- Experience of infection prevention and control measures
Desirable
- Experience of quality initiatives i.e. QOF
Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice
- Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes on SystmOne
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
