Job summary

We are looking for a friendly GP Receptionist to join our community-focused Practice. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with an established team. Main duties of the job

  • To assist in keeping patient records accurate and up to date by scanning and attaching paper documents in to electronic records.
  • To work in the reception area welcoming patients to the practice, treating them courteously, with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Helping patients by dealing with requests or questions in a polite, professional and efficient manner
  • To enable patients to access health care, directing them to appointments with appropriate members of the practice team, or outside services
  • Booking, changing and cancelling appointments in person or over the telephone
  • Answering patients general queries
  • Taking telephone calls and messages, liaising with clinical and administrative staff, hospitals etc
  • Telephoning patients in the evening to inform them about prescriptions, to move/book or rebook appointments, or gather personal data in a sensitive manner, such as smoking status, when asked to do so
  • Registering patients, ensuring that information is checked and documented accurately
  • Ensuring that an adequate supply of stationery is available in the consulting rooms and the reception area
  • General use of the computer with patient details, making appointments, recording information etc
  • General administration involving patient records, audits etc as required.

About us

Battersea Fields Practice is busy, growing GP practice in the heart of Battersea, close to Battersea Park and the development of Battersea Power Station. The practice has a main site at Austin Road, and two branch sites, at Thessaly Road and Meadbank Nursing Home.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Ensuring clinical rooms are replenished at the end of evening surgery, stocking with clinical supplies, information leaflets and other items required.
  • Checking clinical equipment is available and ready to use for the next day (eg: blood pressure machines, examination lights etc)
  • Tidying waiting and reception areas before and after surgery
  • Pulling and filing notes when required
  • Use of the photocopier, scanning etc
  • General use of the computer with patient details, making appointments, recording information etc
  • General administration involving patient records, audits etc as required.
  • Medical reports and other requests for information are processed accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring practice protocols regarding information governance and confidentiality are adhered to
  • Record-keeping, distribution of documents, filing are all undertaken accurately and efficiently
  • Chaperone patients for personal examinations if required (training will be provided)
  • Maintaining reception standards
  • Dealing with the enquires in the action reception tray
  • Preparing for tea breaks and lunches, as required
  • Other duties relevant to reception as required
