Job summary

4-8 SESSION PARTNERSHIP OR SALARIED POST IN SOUTHAMPTON We currently have 6 Partners and 1 salaried GP working at Cheviot Road, with a well- established team of Practice Nurses, HCAs and reception/ administration staff. Our excellent level of patient satisfaction was evident in the 2021 GP Patient Survey in which we scored highest of all practices in Southampton (100% of patients describe their overall experience as good, local average is 77%). As well as having happy patients we are also a team of doctors with high job satisfaction who enjoy working together. We are well organised with an in-house programme of educational meetings and audit, along with long established high QoF achievement. We are active in the West Southampton Primary Care Network with a partner involved as clinical director. We benefit from a PCN social prescriber, physiotherapist, pharmacist and mental health nurse working alongside our practice team onsite as well as Steps to Wellbeing practitioners. Main duties of the job

We are looking for one or two GPs to join our team at Cheviot Road Surgery. We would prefer a partner or partners but are also open to salaried options. You would be offering a personal list of patients General Medical Services

Shirley Avenue and Cheviot Road Surgeries combined form a large partnership, consisting of 12 Partners and 1 Salaried GP, with a patient list of 15,500. We are committed to providing continuity of care through our Personal List System, and consider this to be a very positive aspect of our practice for both patient and GP.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the GP partner. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population, especially to the successful applicants personal list of patients commensurate with the PMS contract

b. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

c. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

d. On a rotational basis (and pro rata to sessional commitment), provide duty doctor roles and extended hours/improved access service

e. Accept responsibility for clinical and non-clinical lead roles within the practice (which will be agreed)

f. Contribute to the effective management of the practice, including administration, planning, strategy, property management, clinical governance, training, financial management and HR.

g. Show leadership qualities, working collaboratively, ensuring an even distribution of the practice workload

h. Promote effective working relationships and communication within the practice.

i. Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

j. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

k. Remain fully focused on the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

l. Prepare and attend partnership meetings contributing in a positive manner

m. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

n. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

o. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

p. Drive the development of enhanced services within the practice, liaising with external agencies and professional organisations as required

q. Any other relevant duties that may be required from time to time. The successful candidate will complete a detailed induction process and be subject to a 6-month probationary period

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
