Job summary
Kingswood Health Centre are looking to recruit a new 4 session Salaried GP.
Working pattern to be negotiated although 2 sessions to be worked on a Friday are a must.
GPs work to 15 minute appointments, and we operate an online total triage system (staffed by our Triage Team Coordinator and the Duty GP). We also use cloud-based telephony and were featured in the NHSs Covid Recovery Plan for our use of the multidisciplinary ARRS roles that we employ.
We also support a number of nursing and residential homes in our boundary. We are an established training practice and also enjoy teaching medical students of various levels. We support our salaried GPs development and encourage them to participate in teaching as well as other initiatives.

The post-holder will be named GP for a list of patients and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

About us
We are a team-orientated practice with approximately 13,000
patients on our list. Operated by 8 Partners, you will join a team with 4 other
salaried GPs. We are also a multi-disciplinary team, working with paramedics, advanced nurse practitioner, physiotherapist, clinical
pharmacists and a pharmacy technician. We also have a well-established and
well-respected nursing team and a fantastic team of non-clinical staff (admin,
secretarial, reception, document workflow and management).A part of the 4PCN Primary Care Network, we also employ a
number of Care Coordinators to support our more vulnerable patients.
Kingswood Health Centre operates in a semi-urban environment
with a varied demographic of patients.
The health centre is situated close to the A4174 ring road
and close to local cycle routes. Our purpose-built premises were completed in 2011 to a high
specification. We are able to offer secure bicycle storage and Cycle2Work
Scheme, car parking and shower facilities.
We are a very sociable practice, regularly arranging staff
events and team challenges to support our nominated charity. The clinical team
aim to have coffee together every morning and lunch upstairs in our staff-only
area. We also close quarterly for dedicated training afternoons for all staff
to attend.

Clinical Responsibilities:
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting (up to 2 patients, i.e. 1 per session) at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated & undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting patients to hospital in emergency situations
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including participation in the on-call rota (during normal working hours) and, when required, to participate in the Saturday morning surgery rota (pro-rata based on number of sessions worked) as required by the Extended Access enhanced service with hours from 8.30 to 11am. The candidate may also be able to partake in the additional evening Improved Access clinics on a rota basis when scheduled.
- Out of Hours cover is provided by Brisdoc from 6.30pm to 8.00am on weekdays, and on weekends.

- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data
- Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
