Job summary
Northumberland Park Medical Group are looking to recruit a part time Practice Nurse to join the practice team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with experience of working in primary care to work alongside our existing Practice Nurse, Trainee Nurse Associates.
Chronic Disease Management with a knowledge of
QOF and Enhanced Services is essential.
Working hours are 30 - 32 per week over 4 or 5 days. Working days will include Monday's and Friday's.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide a range of practice nurse duties including cervical screening, childhood immunisations, adult vaccinations, chronic disease management (including Diabetes, Asthma, Cervical Screening) and wound management.

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the partnership.
- Chronic disease management - Including Diabetes, Asthma, COPD.
- Cytology.
- Wound care / ulcer care.
- Removal of sutures / Staples.
- Urinalysis.
- Venepuncture.
- Blood pressure measurements.
- Routine Immunisations.
- Childhood Immunisations.
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
- Assisting clinicians with minor surgery and coil fittings.
- Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate.
Other tasks including:
- Clean and sterilise equipment.
- Maintaining GP and nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
- Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms.
- work in collaboration with the Lead IPC Nurse to ensure effective infection prevention and control practices are implemented and maintained.
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
- Participation in administrative systems in the practice.
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records.
- A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
- Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits.
