Job summary

After the retirement of a long-standing GP, we are looking fora dynamic, committed and forward thinking salaried GP to work 5-6 sessions per week and in return offer a number of benefits including:-

We are a high performing practice, working across two sites, delivering healthcare to 15,500 patients. We provide a comprehensive range of Primary Care services to our patients with a strong emphasis on quality and care in a supportive friendly atmosphere. As an established training practice, GP registrars and medical students work at our practice at various stages of their training and we have our own DFSRH trainers. We are also part of the Bristol research consortium.

Main duties of the job

We are pleased to be able to offer flexibility in session number and days and an informal chat/visit prior to interview would be welcomed. This exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic team will include a balanced mix of on call/urgent same day and routine general practice work including prescription signing, home visits including at the newly built Nursing Home, reviewing results and reviewing patient documents using Docman. We have completed programmes to improve efficiencies within the practice to enable more time for patient care and team catch-ups. We have regularpractice meetings and regular CPD sessions in-house.

We are also beginning to develop Enhanced Salaried GP roles for GPs who are looking to progress their leadership skills in clinical areas and projects to enhance the practice, benefit team members and support patients operationally and strategically.

About us

Currently our multi-disciplinary team includes 8 GPs, 5 Advanced Nurse Practitioners (one doing a significant proportion of our home visits), CCG pharmacist and supportive nursing team (with chronic disease leads and experience).We work closely with the full range MDT and have on-site support from BDP, Citizens Advice and midwives.

As part of the newly formed Connexus PCN we employ clinical pharmacists, social prescribers and are soon to appoint other health care professionals to deliver services that support a wide range of patients and assist with the clinical workload.

In accordance with the Practice session timetable, be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Governance and Risk Management

Are we Safe?

Represent the practice at CQC and NHS/CCG quality monitoring inspections

Ensure compliance with all relevant company, local and national guidelines and legislation

Adhere to safeguarding requirements and deal appropriately with complaints, incidents and alerts using company systems and policies

Adhere to all company clinical governance policies

Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collect data for audit purposes and for compliance with QOF requirements
