Job summary

We are looking for an experienced phlebotomist to work with an expanding practice team at a large city centre practice. You will become part of a large nursing and support team at a busy city centre practice. We need someone that can communicate clearly and effectively with both patients and staff as well as following clear policies and guidelines in health & safety, infection control and venepuncture.

We are a large city centre practice with a small branch surgery located a few miles away in semi-rural wakefield. Our practice is one of the largest in Wakefield and we are pro-actively involved in many of the primary care schemes around the district. As a practice we are often at the forefront of new initiatives and encourage our staff to develop their skills and interests to further support our patients.

Main duties of the job

As a phlebotomist you will be working across both the main site and the branch site to provide venepuncture services based on requests made from other clinical staff. We would expect the individual to use their own initiative to problem solve and follow up queries as required.

In order to further support practice we may look for someone to undertake additional training in vaccinations in order to assist with things like the seasonal flu campaigns.

About us

We have over 80 staff working across Trinity Medical Centre and Sandal Castle Medical Centre and despite being such a big organisation we have a brilliant team atmosphere. The nursing team has a brilliant support structure in place to make sure all staff feel supported and able to voice any concerns with regular meetings, training and educational/case discussion.

There are 10 GP partners as well as a growing team of salaried GP's, ANPs, ACP's, CPNs, Nurses, HCA's and a large team of support staff teams such as reception, administrators, medical secretaries and practice management.

In addition to the numerous benefits already brought by working for an NHS organisation we offer competetive pay, 6 weeks holiday (pro-rata) and access to the NHS pension scheme.
