Job summary

We are looking for a receptionist to work 2 days a week at our Lodge Moor Surgery.

You will assist & direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. The role will also provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. This role will be a front of house role.

The working day is 8-6:30.

Main duties of the job

The Job includes:

  • Answering the phone and booking appointments
  • Greeting patients and visitors
  • Scanning and coding Hospital Post
  • Issuing repeat Prescriptions
  • Dealing with and Sending Emails

If you are new to the role of GP Practice Receptionist it is a full and busy role with many tasks and responsibilities, there will be some formal training but much of it will be learnt from colleagues.

About us

We are a 2 site practice with 5 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, a Health Care Assistant, reception and admin staff.

We also share pharmacists, a paramedic, physiotherapist and Social Prescribers with 4 other practices.

We are a very busy practice and there is a lot to learn for those new to General Practice but we are a friendly team and there are development opportunities for people that want to progress.

  • Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team
  • Ensuring Clinical Rooms are stocked
  • Processing repeat prescription requests.
  • Organising covid and other vaccinations for patients
  • Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
  • Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Deal with  requests for Home Visits
