Job summary
Due to a staff relocating we now have a vacancy for a Practice Nurse to work within our diverse GP practice. This is advertised as full time however this may be negotiable dependant on the right candidate. We are a busy practice with over 23,000 patients. You would be required to work at our main site in Burntwood but also on occasion at our two branch sites in either Lichfield or Chasetown. We currently have an existing team of 7 practice nurses and you would be working alongside them and a team of HCA's. Experience is preferable however all applicants will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job cover all treatment room work as described within the job description. This includes Chronic disease reviews, vaccinations, Baby immunisations and dressings. Other duties are also required however training will be provided if needed.

To provide a high-quality care service based on the needs of the practice population which includes treatment, screening, preventative care and patient education.
Principal Accountabilities
Clinical
1. Manages programmes of care for patients with chronic diseases by planning, providing and evaluating care under agreed local/national guidelines, protocols and patient group directives. Undertakes annual review of patients understanding and ability to self-manage.
2. Administers adult and child immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with national and local programmes. Is competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques. Ensures safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs and adequate stock levels are maintained.
3. Undertakes procedures to include venepuncture, BP management, urinalysis, peak flow, spirometry, new patient health checks, pregnancy testing, stitch/clip removal ear syringing and cytology, wound management.
4. Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations. Recognises and understands the importance of observing, documenting and communicating the signs and symptoms of child and adult abuse.
5. Act as chaperone when required
6. Undertake health promotion to help educate patients and provide NHS health checks according to guidelines
7. Offers comprehensive travel health advice for patients prior to travel including malaria prophylaxis, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection, first aid and emergency medication, health insurance and vaccinations
