Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills to support the Pharmacy Team administratively to help them achieve their objectives.

The successful applicant will be expected to be enthusiastic with a positive and forward thinking outlook as well as be extremely organised, with excellent communication and IT skills.

The applicant will need to be willingto work flexible Hours, when required, to meet demands.

The applicant must be able todrive to different sites and care homes and access to own vehicle.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the ordering of medications for our care homes
  • Responsible for the issuing of prescriptions for those patients that are on weekly prescriptions
  • Assisting with QOF duties and recalls
  • Coordinating and signing shared care agreements
  • Assisting with electronic repeat dispensing

  • Assisting with the administration of drug monitoring
  • Assisting with the monitoring of patients on non-high risk drugs under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technicians

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the ordering of medications for our care homes
  • Responsible for the issuing of prescriptions for those patients that are on weekly prescriptions
  • Assisting with QOF duties and recalls
  • Coordinating and signing shared care agreements
  • Assisting with electronic repeat dispensing

  • Assisting with the administration of drug monitoring
  • Assisting with the monitoring of patients on non-high risk drugs under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technicians
  • Supporting patients with medication optimisation
  • Contacting and liaising with patients to book into Pharmacy clinics
  • Providing data and metrics requested by the Pharmacy Team or the organisation (eg drug monitoring, drug alerts, QOF updates, MHRA alerts)
  • Carrying out and supporting the team with audits and quality control
  • Processing documents and supporting the workflow of the Pharmacy Team
  • Arranging and minuting meetings, distributing papers and following up on actions
  • Creating and updating the Pharmacy Team rota on a monthly basis, to ensure cover during periods of annual leave

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) including mathematics and English

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years experienced working in an area involving medication
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

  • Experience of working within General Practice
  • Experience of working within Pharmacy
  • Experience in collecting, monitoring and evaluating data
  • Experience using SystmOne
  • Experience of Minute taking

Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of Safeguarding, Data Protection, Confidentiality and GDPR procedures
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • The ability to listen and identify the patients needs
  • Strong organisational skills, including planning, prioritising, time management and record keeping
  • IT literacy
  • Able to efficiently plan and prioritise
  • Able to use initiative and problem solve
  • Self-autonomous but able to work within both Practice and Pharmacy teams
