GP Receptionist
MAIN PURPOSE
Dynamic role of being the main point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other members of our close knit healthcare team. To ensure enquires are promptly, efficiently and courteously handled; documents filed, recorded and distributed accurately and promptly
GENERAL
- To work within the guidelines and policies of the Practice
- To handle calls in a professional manner with good customer service
- To complete patients referrals and other administrative tasks
- To ensure that safe systems of work are practiced and that the agreed health and safety policies are adhered to.
DEVELOPMENT / TRAINING
We offer great training opportunities. We have a culture of enthusiastic and hardworking team members developing to take on more senior roles in healthcare. This can involve more senior administrative tasks or being directly involved in patient services.
Working Hours:
20 or 25 hours over 5 week days (8am to 6.30pm)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: starting from £10.42, based on experience
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
Education:
- A-Level or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
- Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)
- EMIS System is a bonus
Language:
- English (required)

Main duties of the job
Greeting and booking in our patients for clinics.
. Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.
. Receiving and recording of telephone messages taking appropriate action
. Making appointments on Emis System, by processing appointment requests for today, future appointments from patients in person and on the telephone.
To work in accordance of written protocols
. Provide administrative support for clinical staff.
. Filing patient records and correspondence when necessary.
. Opening and distribution or practice post. Outgoing post should be written down in the post book.
. Registering new patients following the Registration Protocol.
. Scanning of documents onto the medical system. All scanning should be cleared daily.
