Job summary
To be responsible for the
processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and extant
legislation. In addition, the post holder will be required to support the Dispensary
Management Lead in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times
whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary team in line with the strategic
objectives of the practice.

Framlingham Medical Practice are a forward thinking practice and believe in staff progression. This temporary position has become available whilst we support a dispenser onthe pharmacy technician programme.
The successful candidate will work with our team of 9 dispensers in a bespoke build dispensary.

Framlingham Medical Practice is a dispensing rural practice providing a high level of healthcare to our 9,500 patient population.
Our team consists of:
3 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP's, an Advanced Care Paramedic, Advanced Nurse practitioner, Paediatric Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic, Clinical Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, a nurse team, dispensary team all supported by our experienced administrators and care navigators.
The practice also supports visiting clinicians - midwife, memory assessment team, Abdominal Aortic aneurysm scanners.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies
- Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately
- Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol
- Maintain stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensary manager to facilitate reordering
- Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy
- Ensuring safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines
- Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed withing a 48 hour timeframe
- Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
- Processing prescription requests via NHS App, SystmOnline and prescription repeat slip
- Processing Dossett boxes
- Assisting the Dispensary Management Lead in the preparation of monthly returns
- Always maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Always maintain accurate records, including appropriate coding entries
- Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
- Provide guidance for trainee dispensary staff and students as necessary
- Remain current with the latest guidance ensuring the dispensary confirms to NICE, CQC etc guidance
