Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Practice paramedic to enhance our clinical team.

You will work closely with our team members to provide our patients with the highest standard of care.

Salary is competitive depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

Your role will require you to participate in all aspects of patient care through knowledge gained from your training.

To accurately examine and assess patients with an undifferentiated diagnosis, from a physiological, psychological and social perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.

Patients presenting with urgent minor illnesses, by initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care.

You will be required to carry out same day urgent home visits, as well as regular visits to housebound patients with long term conditions and care home patients.

About us

Ash Grove Medical Centre is CQC rated 'Good' across all five areas. We are a large GP Practice with 13,000 patients based in Knottingley with a branch surgery in Eggborough.

Ash Grove Medical Centre is led by three GP Partners working along side the Practice Manager.

Our clinical team is supported by two Salaried GP's, three Advanced Clinical Practitioners, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses and three Health Care Assistants.

We have a large non clinical team of 13 patient coordinators, Administrative team and prescription administrators.

  • To work within the community, as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic, in provision of a holistic approach for individuals including assessment, management and treatment to deliver high quality patient services.

  • Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations.
  • Work from the surgery and within the community as an autonomous practitioner caring for patients and families.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, in accordance with the Health and Care Professions Council. Ensure that personal and professional clinical standards are maintained.
  • Undertake assessment for patients within the community and those attending the surgery, using diagnostic skills and initiation of investigation where appropriate.
  • Prescribe/Issue medication as appropriate following policy, patient group directives NICE (National) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways.
  • Communicate at all levels within the team ensuring an effective service is delivered.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
  • Ensure evidence based care is delivered at the highest standards ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Enhance own performance through continuous professional development, imparting own knowledge and behaviours to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine or equivalent experience.
  • Paramedic Registration with the HCPC
  • Has completed their two -year consolidation of learning period as a newly qualified paramedic.
  • Has completed and been signed off formally within the clinical pillar competencies of the paramedic FCP/AP roadmap to practice.
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Independent non medical prescriber
  • Long term conditions qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing intervention and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
  • Ability to write comprehensive clinical notes, implement and evaluate care plans.
  • Clear communicator with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritise workloads, able to multitask as well as be self disciplined and highly motivated.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach in order to ensure patient care is delivered.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Clinical examination skills.

  • Minimum two years post registration experience.
  • Proven experience in either: Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments or Minor Injuries.
