Job summary

Friendly Central London 16,000 patient GP Training Practice looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking Salaried GP for 6/8 sessions, preferably Monday, Wednesday & Friday. 

Modern, purpose-built premises with full complement of administrative and clinical staff, including 5 GP’s, 3 Trainees, PN, HCA, Pharmacists, Social Prescriber and Health Coach. 

We offer a competitive salary, NHS pension, 6 weeks' annual leave and 1 weeks' study leave pro-rata.

We deliver a high standard of clinical care for our patients focusing on proactive personalised care, disease prevention and patient education. We are an active member of the Brompton Primary Care Network.

Main duties of the job

Clinical responsibilities

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries, referring patients as appropriate, paperwork and correspondence.

Making professional decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing level.

Effective management of long term conditions.

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.

Work as a team member with all relevant providers of primary and community care services.

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidelines.

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Support the management team in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.

Provide emergency locum cover in unforeseen/exceptional circumstances in negotiation with the management team.

Work in accordance with practice policies and procedures and assist in their development.

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times.

Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA).

Contribution to QOF and any local or direct enhanced services which the Practice has signed up for.
