Job summary

Are you a Health Care Assistant with a Level 2/3 NVQ Qualification in Health/Social Care.

Working under the direct supervision of the practice nurse/GPs and strictly in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

You must support all your colleagues whilst always maintaining professionalism and discretion and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, especially under pressure.

You will work alongside the clinicians in the provision of patient care. You will undertake and record measurements of height and weight, urinalysis, blood pressure, recording of ECGs, venepuncture, Flu and Pneumonia vaccinations, B12 injections (all under Patient Specific Directions and only if already competent to do these injections post HCA training).

You will have excellent organisational skills and time management is a critical requirement. You will also have a caring, empathetic character, which we view as being essential.

It is very important to have a 'can do' attitude to support your colleagues
