Job summary

Working across the PCN you will act within your professional boundaries to provide care for the presenting patient, delivering a high standard of advanced autonomous clinical skills with in-depth theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practice whilst working under the supervision of a GP

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the primary care team you will work across the PCN GP practices providing advice for the presenting patient. This will include history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care

Job description

Job responsibilities

Provide the first point of care contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems by utilising history taking, physical examinations and clinical decision-making skills to establish a working diagnosis and management plan in partnership with the patient (and carers).

Offer specialised clinics (where competent), but not limited to family planning, baby checks, COPD, asthma, diabetes and anticoagulation.

Provide health promotion and prevention advice, alongside analysing and actioning diagnostic test results.

Develop integrated patient-centred care.

Promote evidence-based practice and partake in clinical audits, significant events reviews and other related activities.

Participate fully in the duty rota across the PCN, including face to face, remote consultations and homes visits for both emergency and routine matters and long-term conditions.

Working under the supervision of a doctor as part of a medical team.

  • Has a clear self-awareness and welcomes feedback for personal and professional development

  • Experience of general practice and /or secondary care
  • Demonstrable emotional resilience even in times of significant pressure

Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate Physician Associate (PG Diploma or MSc)
  • Has maintained professional registration with the Faculty of Physician Associates and/or General Medical Council
  • Has passed the UK Physician Associate (PA) National Re-certification Exam. To be retaken every six years
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of related medical conditions, treatments and pharmacology
  • Has a detailed knowledge and understanding in practice of applying Caldicott Principles, Data Protection Act 2018 and appropriately protects an individuals personal data, disclosing where appropriate only

Desirable

  • Basic or advanced life support

  • Drive and have access to transport to attend visits or sites across the PCN, this may include home visits
  • Immunisation status for Covid -19 (unless exempt in accordance with regulations)
