Job summary
We are looking for an experienced
HCA to support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services,
working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering high quality care to patients within a safe and efficient working environment. The healthcare assistant
will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment,
preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main duties of the job
Undertake new patient health checks, NHS health
checks including discussing blood results, cholesterol and pre-diabetes
Support the practice nurse with health promotion
programmes, undertake smoking, alcohol and exercise screening.
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse
oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings
accurately
Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring,
advising patients accordingly
Support the practice nurse with the management of
chronic disease clinics
Carry out BMI checks as directed
Act as a chaperone as required and assist GP with
minor procedures such as coil fitting
IM injections such as vitamin B12
Phlebotomy
Administer flu vaccinations and other vaccines if
appropriately trained
Carry out ECGs as requested
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward
transportation
Monitoring stock control
Other administrative and clinical duties that might
be required from time to time
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked
and prepared for each session
Ensure fridges are monitored and cleaned routinely
in accordance with extant guidance
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where
appropriate

Our surgery provides high quality healthcare to 5700
patients from a modern purpose-built Health
Centre. We have 3 GP Partners, Nursing Team, Admin Manager and Senior Admin
Team along with a Reception Team. We have a long-term stable workforce and are
proud that several staff members have been with us for decades. We are a
training practice hosting GP registrars, undergraduate medical students, and
student nurses.
