Job summary
To carry out reception
tasks on a day to day operational basis ensuring that services are
delivered, in a co-ordinated and efficient manner.
To work with other
receptionists and healthcare professionals to provide a first class
service to our patients.
To provide the first
point of contact for patients and other stakeholders/visitors (either face
to face or on the telephone) and provide administrative support in
accordance with the service specification and clinical performance indicators.
Main duties of the job
Handling telephone and
face to face requests for appointments and making the appointments on the
computerised appointments system.
Booking in patients when
they arrive at the surgery.
Receiving and checking
repeat prescription requests.
Giving completed
prescriptions to patients and local pharmacies who collect them.
Helping new patients
register with the surgery providing the necessary paperwork and check returned
paperwork is complete.
Calling patients to
arrange for routine appointments, e.g. for immunisations, asthma checks,
diabetes checks etc.
Advising patients of the
results to routine tests.
Responding to patient
requests for information about other NHS services.

About us
Riverside Brigg is a purpose built practice in the centre of Brigg with branch surgeries located covering a further four sites. Five GP partners care for nearly 25,000 patients; we are a Training
Practice, host medical students and nurses and also offer work placements. We are a dispensing practice with a pharmacy attached at both sites in Brigg and Broughton. The partners have specialist interests in Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Minor Surgery, Respiratory and Substance Misuse. We
employ an ANP with an interest in; Paediatrics. The Urgent Care Team manages on the day demand offering
emergency appointments and telephone advice. Practice nurses manage chronic disease within the surgery and are supported by six HCAs. The two practice Pharmacist's manage prescribing and medicines optimisation. The clinical team is supported by a multi-professional administration team.
