Main duties of the job
Handling incoming telephone calls to the surgeryAn ability to exercise initiative and to work in an organised and methodical manner whilst handling multiple prioritiesCompleting tasks set by practice manager or clinical staffProcessing repeat prescriptions according to practice policyKeeping the reception desk and waiting area clean and free of clutterWorking as part of a team collaboratively with other reception and clinical staffChecking in patients arriving for their appointmentsGreeting patients kindly and courteouslyDealing with all inbound and outbound queriesScheduling appointmentsAbility to pay a high level of attention to detail with accurate inputUpdating patient records and scanning documentsPreparing prescriptionsWriting letters, scanning, photocopying and emailing
About us
Bute House Medical Centre is a training practice in the heart of Luton, Bedfordshire. We look after a diverse population of 8450 patients, including a linked 45 bed nursing home. We provide regular medical cover to the linked nursing home including ward rounds, structured medication reviews and end of life care. Home visit rates are relatively low. We use system one. Our team currently consists of 5 GP Partners, one Managing Partner, 1 Deputy Manager, 3 nurses, 1 HCA and 1 pharmacist. Our partners have strong links with the local VTS, the CCG including representation on the local Prescribing Committee, and with secondary care. We are also the lead practice for our PCN Hatters Health Network.
