Job summary
Concord Surgery is seeking an experienced Primary Care Health Care Assistant to join our vibrant, patient focused and innovative practice who are committed to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.
The candidate will be expected to work Monday-Friday, with two late finishes (Friday and one other day).
Main duties of the job
- Undertake venepuncture, correctly ordering the bloods on the IT system
- Support the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations
- Undertake wound care
- Administer vaccinations
- Undertake diabetic workups
- Carry out EGSs
- Carry our ear irrigation under supervision

Job responsibilities
- Undertake venepuncture, correctly ordering the bloods on the IT system
- Support the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
- Undertake diabetic workups (diabetic foot checks, height, weight, BMI, BP, bloods, patient education)
- Act as a chaperone as required
- Administer flu and other vaccinations such as Pneumonia and B12.
- Specimen management, ensuring specimens are appropriately requested and packaged
- Carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the Practice Nurse
- Carry out ECGs as requested
- Provide support during minor operations as required
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

- Experience in a Primary Care setting and phlebotomy.
- Previous experience as a HCA

- Able to adapt with changing priorities and be personable, polite and patient with our patients
- Basic PC skills such as Word, Excel and email
- Ability to use own judgement and be aware of professional boundaries
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- Fluent in verbal and written English
