Job description
Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients within Severnside Medical Practice, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver services and health promotion across the practice population.
The post holder will deliver care within their clinical competencies while being supported to develop new skills required for general practice, including the management of long-term conditions, immunisations, cervical cytology, and health promotion.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the GPs
- Undertake cervical cytology screening
- Contraception advice/Depo injections. Provide assessment, screening, treatment, and education for patients within the practice.
- Manage and support patients with long-term conditions (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension).
- Wound care / ulcer care/ Doppler
- Removal of Sutures
- Travel Vaccinations
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Ear syringing
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to support patients in self-management.
- Ensure accurate documentation of care in patient records using the practice clinical system.
