Job summary
Exciting opportunity to work as a Receptionist in a friendly, busy GP surgery in a beautiful village in Kent.
This role is varied, fast paced and very rewarding and involves contact with patients both on the phone and in person.
Main duties of the job
The role is varied and includes all aspects of care navigation and administrative duties.
To provide a point of contact for all patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff.
This role involves booking appointments, both on the phone and in person and as a dispensing practice will also involve patients collecting their prescriptions.
About us
We are a small and friendly team with a staff of approximately 20 within the practice.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with excellent customer service skills and a good understanding of confidentiality.

Job responsibilities
- To provide an efficient, effective and welcoming service as the face of our surgery
- To prepare the reception area before opening
- To deal with all calls; triaging patients and passing on accurate messages to medical and non medical colleagues as appropriate.
- Booking in appointments with Doctors and Nurses.
- Action referrals and complete admin tasks as necessary.
- To
ensure that all medicines dispensed are checked against the prescription,
and whenever there is any doubt, to check with authorising Doctor and/or
Dispenser.
- To
collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient
declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is filled in and signed by the
patient.
- Process
repeat prescription requests either on line requests or delivered
requests.
- Undertake
any additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners
or the Practice Manager
