Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Dispensary Business Manager who would be responsible for managing the financial and staffing elements of our two dispensaries.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be integral in maintaining and improving the profitability of the Dispensarieswhilst supporting our Dispensary Team, which is made up of a Lead Dispenser, 6 Dispensers and 6 Dispensary Clerks. They will be responsible for developing processes within the team to ensure the Practice is providing an efficient, high-quality service to our patients. To achieve this, they will monitor performance and outputs.

You will need to be confident in implementing change, have excellent organisational skills and be prepared to use your own initiative on a day-to-day basis.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To ensure the provision of efficient and high quality dispensing of medication to the eligible patients, and to ensure effective financial control of the Dispensary
  • Analysis of invoices for bonus stock and ensuring bonus stock is received
  • Monthly checking of the Drug Tariff for price and category changes. Monthly review of Manufacturer Discount Schemes and any follow up with wholesalers / representatives as needed
  • Responsible for the overall management of Prescription Pricing Authority submissions monthly to the Prescription Pricing Authority; Preparing vaccine list; Dealing with prescriptions returned by the PPA
  • Liaison with wholesalers / drug company representatives to ensure the best possible discounts are obtained

Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous management or supervisory experience, experience of handling staff performance
  • Must have excellent Word and Excel skills

Desirable

  • Pharmacy Technician status

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of partnership/collaborative working and of building relationships across a variety of organisations
  • Experience of working with or in a dispensary or pharmacy
  • Some flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required, as will the ability to travel to different locations at short notice

Desirable

  • Experience of working with healthcare professionals and or previous experience in the NHS or social care or relevant field

  • Ability to support people in a way that inspires trust and confidence, motivating others to reach their potential.
