Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and enthusiastic GP assistant / Senior Administrator to join our highly effective and friendly practice team. This is a permanent position for 25-30 hours per week (over 4 days) but we would consider a full time post for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced healthcare administrator with at least 2 years experience in a healthcare administration role, preferably in primary care. Training will be provided for the successful candidate in any areas identified to help with continuous development.
The closing date is 15th Novemebr and interviews will be held on 23rd and 24th November. The preferred method of application is the NHS jobs application, though we will also accept applications made via CV.

Summary
The post holder will report to
the Practice Manager and support the GPs and Nursing team to ensure the
efficient provision of medical services and clinics by performing several administrative
tasks. This will allow the GPs to utilise their own time more effectively
towards greater patient focused activities.
Utilising the NGS Health Education
England GPA Competency Framework, the post holder working with general practice
/ primary care will provide capabilities within care, administration, communications
and health records management.

The successful candidate will work to support the GP and nursing teams to ensure the efficient provision of medical service and clinics by performing several administrative tasks. This will include working in accordance with specific guidelines and protocols to deliver high quality care.
Daily duties will include
- Signposting correspondence received to the practice and distribute appropriately to other members of the team where unable to deal with
- Extracting all the required information from clinical letters, applying medical codes as required and adding these to patient notes
- Supporting patients by arranging appointments, onwards referrals and clinical tests
- Completing basic (non-opinion) forms in addition to some elements of forms for the GPs to approve, such as insurance forms, mortgage applications, Department for Work and Pension benefits forms and others as appropriate
- Completed Subject Access Requests
- Assist the QOF lead with recalls for reviews and ensure a follow up process is in place for non-responders
- Ensuring that enhanced services are being fully utilised and recorded accurately to allow for claims to be submitted
- Carrying out patient safety audits and liaising with appropriate members of the team for any actions identified from these
- Support the Safeguarding GP in maintaining a register of patients with safeguarding plans
- Attend meetings and take minutes
- Any other reasonable task required
