The Roxton Practice has a vacancy for a further Practice Nurse to supplement an already large Nursing team.

The Roxton Practice is a large GP Practice with currently approx. 30,000 patients. The Main site is at Immingham with Branch sites at Weelsby View, Grimsby and Pelham Crescent, Keelby.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the delivery of Treatment Room / Practice nursing services care to the practice population. This will include clinical duties, health promotion, health screening, contribution to development of Practice services and participation in clinical audit. The Nurse should have a chronic disease specialism in either Diabetes and/ or Cardiovascular disease. Supported by the Senior Nurses they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. 

Main duties to include

  • All health checks as delegated and within their competencies and specialism i.e. Diabetes, Respiratory and Cardio-vascular Disease
  • BP monitoring
  • Urinalysis
  • Phlebotomy
  • Perform other routine laboratory tests
  • Assist other clinical members when necessary
  • Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the Practice
  • All aspects of wound care
  • Record ECG’s
  • Undertake other tasks delegated by senior nurse
  • Administer injections including travel injections and baby vaccinations as per patient group direction
  • Undertake pill checks
  • Undertake ear syringing (after relevant training)

About us

We currently have 16 GP’s and 4 Clinical Pharmacists. We are a training Practice for GP Registrars, FY2 medical students, Student Nurses, Trainee Paramedics and Trainee Nursing Associates.

The Large Nursing team currently consists of 6 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 1 Nurse Practitioner and 1 trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 7 Practice Nurses, 2 Trainee Nursing Associates, 9 Advanced Healthcare support workers and 3 Junior Healthcare Support workers.

We also have a community team comprising of 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Paramedics and 1 Advanced Healthcare support worker.

The clinical team is supported by a large team of Administration staff and care navigators.

The position available is to supplement our team to provide General Nursing treatment and would suit someone who has an interest in managing Chronic Diseases such as Diabetes, COPD, Asthma and Cardi-vascular disease.

Clinical practice
