Job summary

To offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive, friendly image to our patient population, to ensure a first class customer service is provided to any persons contacting the Practice by phone or face-to-face. Signpost and direct patients to ensure they access the correct service/health professional.

To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the patients and Partners.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a team. Flexibility of working hours is essential in this role and the applicant must be flexible to cover holidays/staff sickness as and when required. Core practice hours are 7.45am to 6.45pm Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Navigating/signposting patients to the appropriate service/clinician to deal with their issue
  • Maintaining confidentiality and security in line with Practice protocols
  • Monitor and maintain the Practice appointments system
  • Process personal information, requests for appointments, visits and telephone consults ensuring all patients are signposted to the most appropriate healthcare professional to deal with their problem
  • Processing and distributing incoming mail
  • Computer data entry, ensuring information is collated, input and processed accurately in line with Practice protocol
  • Initiating contact with and responding to patient requests within your remit, as well as queries from other third party providers as required
  • Providing support to the Practice team as required, duties can include photocopying, filing, scanning however the list is not exhaustive.

About us

We are a forward thinking; diverse and friendly group and we want to make a real difference to our patients. We have 4 partners, 4 salaried GPs, very well-established GP Training practice, Management team, Administration team, First Contact Paramedic, a PCN Pharmacist, and also working with our PCN and other ARRS roles to provide additional services for patients. We provide anticoagulant, phlebotomy and Joint injections services. We have 3 GPs who are involved in NHSE Appraisal work, one who is an appraisal lead for NHSE. 3 of the GPs are GP trainers, educators, and mentors. GPs who also undertake clinical lead work for the ICB/Knowsley Place. We also teach 3rd and 4th year university medical students. Come and be a part of the team!
