Job summary

The post will be for a minimum of 15 hours over 2 days per week.

The Core days are;

Tuesday 8.00am - 1.00pm and Friday 8.00am - 6.30pm

Main duties of the job

You will need to have a friendly and approachable manner and the ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.

Previous primary care knowledge and the use of SystmOne would be desirable but is not essential.

Receptionist - Job Description

Job Title:Administrator

Responsible to:Senior Receptionist / Practice Manager

Responsible for:N/A

Job Purpose:To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team

Duties and Responsibilities

Telephone Duties

1.Making appointments

2.Taking requests for prescriptions from housebound patients

3.Giving out results

4.Ambulance transport bookings for on the day service

5.Home visit requests

6.Deal with general enquiries and complaints

7.Contacting other providers

Reception Duties

8.Register new patients and temporary residents, when required

9.Greet and direct patients and visitors

10.Making appointments

11.Handing out prescriptions

12.Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

13.Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

14.Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

15.Deal with general enquiries and complaints

Filing

16.Filing and retrieving paperwork as requested (eg. Lloyd George envelopes)

Prescriptions

17.Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions

18.Raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols

19.Dealing with queries relating to prescriptions

20.Input and extract information from Practice computer system

21.Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

22.Observe Confidentiality policy and guidelines at all times
