Job summary
We are currently looking for a part-time receptionist to join our friendly team. Ideally working 16 hours over 2 days. We are a very busy practice located in Leadgate. As part of our friendly team you will be responsible for providing a pleasant and efficient service to our patients.
A sound professional working relationship will be required with all the staff working within the practice and potentially the wider PCN. The role requires high levels of organisation and excellent interpersonal skills.
Effective communication skills and teamwork are crucial in a multi-disciplinary environment, helping ensure the quality and consistency of the services the practice provides.
The post requires a pleasant and approachable manner with the ability to exercise tact and discretion as well as being able to use initiative and work independently.
Being proactive with a can-do attitude would be welcome attributes.
Main duties of the job
- Maintaining and monitoring practice appointment systems
- Processing face-to-face and telephone requests for appointments, visits and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Processing repeat prescriptions requests in accordance with practice guidelines
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time-to-time
- Process workflow, read coding new diagnoses etc and sharing documents that need to be reviewed by a GP

We provide healthcare services to an increasing list size of 6050 patients. We are looking for an experienced medical receptionist to join our team.
We use SystmOne and we are a high QOF achieving practice with an interest in clinical research.
