The
University of Surrey in partnership with Psychological service providers across
Surrey are looking to recruit and train Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapists as part of
the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy programme. We train
individuals to deliver evidence based psychological therapies for people with anxiety disorders and depression on a one year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological
Intervention (CBT).
Please be aware that by applying for this position,
your application information will be shared between the education provider
(University of Surrey) and the four Surrey based IAPT service providers in the
region - Mind Matters / We Are With You / Centre for Psychology / DHC Talking
Therapies. You will be asked to indicate in order of preference from 1-4 (1 first preference/4 least preference) the service you wish to be employed by.
Main duties of the job
The
training programme consists of three working days within one of the following
services: Mind Matters (Surrey & Borders Partnership Foundation NHS Trust:
SABP), We Are With You, Centre for Psychology or Dorking Health Care (DHC) Talking Therapies, and two
days at the University, taught by experts in the field.
The
pay scale stated here reflects all the pay scales across providers, so please
see individual provider websites for an exact salary figure, contract terms and location.
Applications are invited from Applied psychologists, Psychiatrists, GP's, Mental Health Nurses, Psychotherapists, Counsellors,
Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Probation officers, Art Therapists, Teachers of Special Educational Needs and Psychological Wellbeing
Practitioners. Applicants
without a core profession (such as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners or
Counsellors without UKCP or BACP accreditation) must be able to meet the
required KSA criteria (see the BABCP website for more information).

Essential
- Candidates should have a BABCP recognised core professional training and provide qualification and registration documents as proof at interview. These professions include:
- Applied Psychologist 1st degree plus a post-graduate qualification (MSc or Doctorate) in an applied area such as:
- Clinical Psychologist (Doctorate)
- Educational Psychologist (Doctorate)
- Counselling Psychologist (Doctorate)
- Health Psychologist (Masters)
- Forensic Psychologist (Masters)
- The above should be Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Health Professionals Council (HPC) registration alone insufficient)
- Registered Nurse - Mental Health (RMN), Learning Disability etc. (general nursing and enrolled nursing is insufficient)
